Use of supplemental housing surges with Class of 2020
|
For the Fall 2016 semester, I was accepted into Comm 416, a news practicum designed to produce content for the regional Centre Daily Times newspaper. I learned how to identify story concepts that would appeal to a diverse readership, namely Penn State students and the broader State College community. Perhaps of even greater importance, I learned how to maintain perseverance in landing interviews with key sources, thereby strengthening the impact of my feature pieces.
My first published story, which appears to the left, was an investigation of the repercussions from Penn State admitting one of the largest freshman classes on record. With a blending of student and university voices, I was able to capture the housing debacle. |
