Hello and welcome to my website! I'm the State House reporter at MassLive, where I cover Beacon Hill politics with a focus on stories that will resonate with readers in Western and Central Massachusetts. My daily coverage spans the governor, House of Representatives and Senate — on top of a slew of statewide races, including a historic gubernatorial bid underway. Through in-depth coverage, I've chronicled the fallout of Gov. Charlie Baker's COVID-19 vaccine mandate for state workers, racist vitriol against elected women of color, and one nonprofit's mission to combat rising antisemitism in Massachusetts, among other projects since I started at MassLive in September 2021. Read my MassLive stories here.
Previously, I was the local government reporter at The Charlotte Observer, where I covered both the Charlotte City Council and the Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners. I helped spearhead coverage of the COVID-19 pandemic, using data analysis and records requests to capture the virus' disproportionate toll on nursing home residents and people of color. Beyond coronavirus, I've also written about police reform, racial disparities, affordable housing and mental health, among other topics. Read all my Charlotte Observer stories here.
I am a proud alumna of The Pennsylvania State University and Schreyer Honors College, where I earned a BA in Journalism and a BS in Marketing. I was extremely active at Penn State's student-run newspaper, The Daily Collegian, serving as Features & Investigative Editor and News Chief. I have previously reported on mental health, student government and Greek life — with an emphasis on the Beta Theta Pi fraternity hazing death case.
I'm passionate about telling human-centric stories that distill complex topics into tangible, engaging stories for diverse readers. Please keep in touch at [email protected].
In Summer 2019, I was a metro reporting intern at The Boston Globe, where I wrote about everything from a small liberal arts college admitting just a 15-member freshman class, to the heartrending loss of a beloved Boston taxi driver, to a vaccination bill that could make Massachusetts schoolchildren safer. My favorite story involved a unique mental-health program in Cape Cod aimed at curbing the rising suicide epidemic.
My journalism adventures have taken me to Washington, D.C, Israel and San Francisco, where I won third place in the 2017-18 Hearst National Writing Championship. I qualified to compete based off a third-place win in Personality/Profile writing and a sixth-place win in Breaking News. In Summer 2018, I had the opportunity to intern at TheHartford Courant, the largest paper in Connecticut, where I helped cover the gubernatorial primary race.
